Free and open to the public, this stunning group of antiquities will be showcased in Christie’s King Street galleries between 14 June to 12 July 2019.

Patron, humanist and passionate connoisseur, George Ortiz (1927-2013) created one of the most important collections of ancient art still in private hands. The 1994 exhibition at the Royal Academy, one of the few precious examples of private collection displayed in public institutions, showcased the broad variety and exquisite quality of the artefacts, spanning from the Ancient Near East to the Pacific world, with ancient Greece as the main focus.

G. Max Bernheimer, International Head of Antiquities at Christies and curator of the 25th Anniversary exhibition, together with the Ortiz family, who kindly loaned the works, have created a selection of objects which reflect the importance of the collection, and celebrate the success of the original exhibition and its lasting legacy.

Once again, this is a chance for all to enjoy a museum quality exhibition at Christie’s.
