Europe’s leading portrait artists, will be gathering under one roof for an exhibition showcasing the best of contemporary portraiture in existence today.

The exhibition will feature a never-before-seen portrait of actor Kelsey Grammer painted this year by esteemed artists Nicky Philipps, whose portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II is now on display in the Throne Room in Buckingham Palace as part of their permanent collection.

Other artists include two winners of Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year, Samira Addo and Gareth Reid. The former is known for painting Kim Cattrall’s portrait live on television for the Walker Gallery of Liverpool and the latter for recently receiving high acclaim for his portrait of HRH The Prince of Wales for Hillsborough Castle.

The collection of portrait paintings on display will demonstrate the exciting diversity of contemporary portraiture, from artists who paint in the traditional sight-size technique echoing the method practised by the Old Masters, to the more avant-garde artists who challenge the common concept of the portrait both physically and psychologically.

Further artists showcasing their work during the exhibition will include Rupert Alexander, Nick Bashall and Jamie Coreth among other prominent names in portraiture today. Many of the contributing artists have been classically trained and have since gained international attention and acclaim for their work and commissions.
