A landmark set on the boundary of St James’s, The Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) champions and produces ground-breaking art across an array of mediums. This February, under the nationwide New Creatives commissioning series, emerging artists are invited to put their creativity to the test. What for? To bring ideas that reflect the multiplicity of London’s voices to life for none other than the BBC.
If you are a London-based artist under 30, this is for you. Developed by BBC Arts and Arts Council England, this is your invitation to challenge the status quo of audio and visual arts through creative and thought-provoking storytelling. The ICA are looking for art that demonstrates innovation in style and structure that will surprise listeners or viewers with its inventiveness. If selected, you will work alongside a diverse group of creatives, with the endgame of broadcasting your work on either BBC iPlayer or BBC Sounds, as well as at one of the ICA’s dedicated In Production showcases.
Undoubtedly an inspiring opportunity, those lucky enough to be involved will be mentored by specialist production partners to offer support in developing these skills.
Interested in applying? The next step would be to submit a proposal via the online portal. This is an unrivaled chance to share your ideas with the BBC, and present differing perspectives that are all too often underrepresented on screen, on air and online.
To submit your proposal please use the ICA application portal through this link. Applications close at 11:59pm on Wednesday 26 February 2020.
